CFP: Interdisciplinary Workshop on Climate Change and Fluctuating Environments in Scientific Models and Cultural Discourses

11/09/2018

With global climate change and environmental variability confronting both sciences and humanities with new challenges, interdisciplinary work and "thinking outside the box" are becoming increasingly relevant. This workshop is the result of the co-operation between Cognitive Literary Studies, Biblical Theology, and Physical Geology and Climatology at RWTH Aachen in a joint ERS Seed Fund project researching the relationship between scientific facts and models of climate change, their literary and cultural representations, and the apocalyptic. As we aim for an open conversation and exchange, this two-day event will consist of lectures and smaller panel sessions, with both allowing for discussion and enabling interdisciplinary cross-pollination. We welcome proposals for short presentations addressing these environmental concerns across scientific and cultural discourses.
