Language Competence English - Placement Test for Bachelor Students

1. All incoming students are required to take a placement test at the Language Center.

  • A result of "OK1" or higher fulfills the LuS degree program requirement for proof of a C1 competence level.
  • It will give students access to the voluntary English courses at the Language Center.
  • It gives the students themselves feedback on their competence level in English.

2. The placement test aims at providing a realistic assessment of the student’s present proficiency level. Therefore, it is unnecessary or even counterproductive to prepare for the test.

3. Registration procedure for the placement test: Follow the instructions on the Language Center website.
The dates for the placement test are available on the Language Center website as well.

4. We strongly recommend that students take the test as soon as possible - even before the orientation week- and definitely by Friday, October 5, 2018.

NEW DATES for the placement test can be found on the homepage of the Language Center website!

5. Placement results represent the following CEFR levels:

MK 3/4: B1 level
MK 5/6: low B2 level
MK 7/8: high B2 level
OK 1: C1
