About Ansgar Nünning
Ansgar Nünning is professor of English and American Literature and Cultural Studies at the University of Giessen. His research interests include English and American literature, cultures of memory and narratology. Among his recently published articles are “New Narratologies: Current Developments and New Directions“ (2013) and “Kriterien und Standards der Literaturwissenschaft” (2015). He has also published the Metzler Lexikon Literatur- und Kulturtheorie (2008), Introduction to the Study of Narrative Fiction (with Birgit Neumann, 2008), and Metzler Handbuch Promotion: Forschung – Förderung – Finanzierung (with Roy Sommer 2007). Ansgar Nünning was recently awarded a honorary doctorate from the University of Stockholm for his extensive contribution to the field of literary and cultural studies as well as for his effort to reform and internationalize PhD education.
Ansgar Nünning is the founding director of the Giessen Graduate School for the Humanities and of the International Graduate Centre for the Study of Culture (GCSC), inaugurated in 2006, the managing director of the International PhD Programme “Literary and Cultural Studies” (IPP), established in 2002, and since 2008 director of the research project “The Medialisation of Narrativity and Storytelling”.
About Vera Nünning
Vera Nünning is professor of English philology at Heidelberg University. Her research interests include the theory of narrative, in particular cognitive narratology, gender studies, and the social, cognitive and affective value of fiction. She has also taught at the University of Zaragoza (2006), the University of Lisbon (2009), the University of Helsinki (2010), and the University of Bergamo (2011).
Vera Nünning has published extensively on the topics of cultural history and British fiction. Lately, she has published Reading Fictions, Changing Minds - The Cognitive Value of Fiction (2014), Der englische Roman des 19. Jahrhunderts (2007) and she has edited the volume New Approaches to Narrative. Cognition – Culture – History (2013). She is the co-editor of the journal English Studies.
