It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of our colleague Geoffrey Davis, one of the world's leading scholars in the field of Postcolonial Literatures, a brilliant teacher and a tireless life-long supporter of our Institute. Since he first came to Aachen as a "Lektor für Englisch" he shaped the profile of our Institute with his unique combination of academic excellence, untiring committment to teaching and a deeply humane urge for justice, be it "at home" in institutional affairs of our University, be it in the wider world.

Geoff Davis passed away on November 22, 2018, only days before his 75th birthday. We have lost a greatly valued colleague and many of us also a dear friend.
